I have bipolar 1 and ocd

Are bipolar and ocd connected? Do you get OCD from childhood trauma. My son has extreme OCD as well as me. Is it hereditry?

Re: I have bipolar 1 and ocd

@Sweet_cheeks  Hi Sweet_cheeks from what my ex psychiatrist, he was a very knowledgeable one too,  said to me once was my bipolar1 and schizoaffective disorder was brought on by severe stress but that also having a parent or family members with histories of mental illness also makes one suscetable to acquairing some form of mental illness. In my family I have bipolar1 and schizoaffective disorder, my son has schizophrenia and my daughter has chronic depression.

Did my son's schizophrenia bring on my daughter's and my mi due to the stress it caused us or would it have happened anyway is a huge unkown. It doesn't matter now we just have to deal with the aftermath. greenpea xx
