Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

Hey everyone!

@MDT @Judi9877 @Shaz51 @Powderfinger @Meowmy @Schitzo @WIP @Anastasia @Eve7

Reflecting back on the year so far, it certainly as been a strangely different year:

My trip interstate at the beginning of 2020 was cancelled so I couldn't see my family in Sydney.

I worked for 8 weeks before COVID peaked in the first round and ended up with an extended break from work.

Next, we were told we had to work from home. I hated it! It was insane. However, I did begin a healthy living routine - walks everyday, eating freshly cooked meals, focused on meditation. I was beginning to enjoy a slower-paced life.

I still had hopes I'd be able to travel overseas as I had booked a long awaited trip - in the end, no way. I lost my tickets, visa, tour booking... all up, about $10 000. At first I wanted at least some of the money recovered, but now, I just think of all the job losses and so I've resigned to the fact that I won't get it back.

Returned on-site to work for a few weeks. It was an anxious time because I worked in the ultimate COVID hotspot at that time.

Second wave hit. Began working from home again. I knuckled down on my uni work and was really on top of it. I really enjoyed pacing myself through Covid and doing everything to monitor my mental and physical health. Once again, I got used to the slower paced life. It was great, but I DID miss my restauranting and socialising out. For the first time, we had curfews and restrictions placed upon us. There were checkpoints every time I drove. It felt weird... like war times.

Melbourne lockdown finslly eased. Back to work onsite. Now the rush of the world is back, and I'm finding myself less able to cope. Now it is about reflecting on what worked during covid so that I can maintain my health. I'm finding myself a lot tidier having to commute to and from work, I'm getting more stressed, eating more junk food as a result, finding it harder to concentrate on meditation...

Looks like I've got much to learn..

@BPDSurvivor it's good that we survived so far. Take care.

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

Hello @BPDSurvivor

What you describe I think will be similar for a lot of us. I still have anxiety around being out and if there's lots of people I completely freak out and don't want to be there. (There is usually the shops) I'm sorry you lost the opportunity to have your holiday. I do think you need to chase up some refunds. I arrange travel as one of my role as at work and refunds/credits have been granted in every case. I hate to think that because you are nice you're being taken advantage of 🤗

I know you'll find your feet with your new routine, it might just take a little time xxx

Enjoy your day today my friend 💞

@Meowmy @MDT @Judi9877 @Shaz51 👋

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

@Anastasia have a good day.

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

Thank you @Meowmy you too!

What do you have on your agenda today?

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

@BPDSurvivor I lost an overseas holiday too. I have been fortunate enough to get everything refund except flights with virgin. I’m stuck with 3k in lousy travel credit that I will probably never be able to use.

I think you should consider chasing up refunds, from what I’ve read most places have been offering it.

2020 sure has been a difficult year!

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

@BPDSurvivor I'm thankful for you sharing all of that

Yes I do believe that there was a slower pace to lofe under lockdown. Even though I still went tow rod, everything was ceased. Used to go for walks as well and also weights did some work around the house.

I think as time goes by we will get to used to things slowly

I am glad you shared your story here my friend. Good onya 🙂

You could also see if you could get some of that money back too

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

I agree with @Bow @Anastasia
In regards to refunds yes

Re: My 2020 (amongst so many other's 2020 experiences)

@BPDSurvivor

Thanks for sharing. This world has always been too fast paced for me. These days, I move at a slower pace. I actually need it for my mental health. I still wonder between mental health and personality. Is it my personality or is it purely for mental health reasons. Perhaps a mix of the two. I do know that rushing things give me anxiety if my efforts to not control it are not working. I cant always control it, I know. My way of dealing with that is to tune out and let people be. I guess I go off with the fairies so I dont heighten my anxiety more.

I cant even go there about 2020 for me, so I just don't.
